Penrith Panthers utility Asu Kepaoa has pleaded guilty to multiple driving offences following a speeding incident in mid-September. According to The Daily Telegraph, Kepaoa appeared in Campbelltown Local Court and admitted to exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h.
Court documents reveal that on Thursday, September 19, at 10 a.m., Kepaoa was clocked driving 150km/h in a 110km/h zone. He also pleaded guilty to driving after his visiting privileges had been revoked. A roadside alcohol breath test conducted at the time returned a negative result. Kepaoa is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
Since joining the Panthers mid-season from the Wests Tigers, the 24-year-old Auckland native has yet to make his NRL debut for the club, spending his time in the NSW Cup. Injuries plagued his stint with the Tigers, where he played 42 matches between 2020 and 2024.
Kepaoa’s chances of breaking into the Panthers’ starting lineup could improve with the recent departures of key players James Fisher-Harris, Jarome Luai, and Sunia Turuva. Known for his versatility, Kepaoa can play in the centres or the second row, adding depth to the reigning premiers as they pursue a fifth consecutive NRL title.
