Boston Bruins Fire Head Coach Jim Montgomery Amid Slow Start to Season
The Boston Bruins have dismissed head coach Jim Montgomery after a challenging 8-9-3 start to the 2024-25 season. Despite leading the team to a historic 65-win season in 2022-23 and earning the Jack Adams Award, Montgomery’s recent tenure was marked by inconsistency. Bruins GM Don Sweeney cited the team’s performance as falling below expectations.
Joe Sacco, a long-time Bruins assistant and former head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, has been named interim coach. Sacco will aim to stabilize the team and reestablish competitive momentum.
