We have an update regarding Jake Evans‘ probable trade value on the NHL market.
The excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin has just shared his thoughts on what the Canadiens could get in exchange for Evans, and it’s quite surprising.
He believes that the Canadiens’ current second-line center is worth a second-round pick.
A Second-Round Pick for Jake Evans
He even provides an interesting explanation.
«I know many won’t agree about Evans, but a player like him is gold as depth for a contending team!»
– Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
And I 100% agree with him.
This might surprise you, but even for a second-round pick (likely a late one if it’s coming from a contending team), I wouldn’t trade Jake Evans.
We already have plenty of draft picks and a solid pool of prospects, so why trade an already established player who is still relatively young and as reliable as Jake Evans?
I sincerely believe he could follow a trajectory similar to Phillip Danault‘s and become our third-line center of the future.
It’s true that his contract is expiring, but I’m confident he would be happy to extend in Montreal, as he mentioned in an interview with Pierre Houde a few weeks ago. He loves playing here and wants to win here.
What about you? What would you do with Jake Evans? Would you trade him for a second-round draft pick?
Evans, 28 years old, has accumulated 10 points in 19 games this season, with a -1 rating.
His role continues to grow, and at $1.7 million per year, he’s an incredible bargain for the Canadiens.
