The Pittsburgh Steelers will not face the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs following the Bills’ dominant win over the New York Jets.
With this victory, the Bills have secured the No. 2 overall seed in the AFC, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs. Since the Steelers have clinched a top-six seed in the conference, they can no longer meet the Bills in the initial round of the playoffs.
Potential Opponents for the Steelers
With the Bills out of the equation, the Steelers’ potential Wild Card opponents are now the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens. If the Steelers win the AFC North, they will secure the No. 3 overall seed. This would require a Ravens loss to the Browns and a Steelers victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Path to Houston
For the Steelers to secure a trip to Houston, they need to either win against the Bengals or hope for a Chargers loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Additionally, the Ravens must win for this scenario to play out. Given the current standings, a matchup with the Texans appears to be the most probable outcome.
Should the Steelers lose to the Bengals and both the Chargers and Ravens win, Pittsburgh would travel to Baltimore to face their AFC North rivals. This scenario would set up a highly anticipated rematch between the divisional foes in the playoffs.
Stay tuned as the playoff picture continues to evolve, with crucial games still to be played in the final week of the regular season.
