NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed which team he believes is best positioned to land Mitch Marner this offseason — and it’s none other than the Vegas Golden Knights.
With free agency just weeks away, speculation surrounding Marner’s future is heating up. The Toronto Maple Leafs star is arguably the biggest name expected to be on the move, and Vegas continues to be at the center of the rumors.
Pairing Marner with Jack Eichel would give the Golden Knights a dynamic and dangerous offensive duo. But to make that a reality, GM Kelly McCrimmon would need to do some serious cap gymnastics.
While teams like the Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings, and even the Utah Mammoth are considered potential destinations, Friedman emphasized that Vegas stands out from the rest.
“Vegas makes a lot of sense for Mitch Marner,” said Friedman during his appearance on Sportsnet 590.
If a trade does happen, it would be one of the biggest moves of the offseason and a game-changer for the Golden Knights’ offense.
