Streaming Giant Confirms Exciting New Projects Despite Poor Reviews
Netflix has reaffirmed its commitment to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, dismissing rumors that the couple’s lucrative £80 million deal is at risk. The streaming giant insists it remains “excited” about their upcoming projects, including a romance film and a new cookery show, despite previous content underperforming in ratings and receiving mixed reviews.

Following the success of their 2022 documentary Harry & Meghan, which became one of Netflix’s most-watched releases that year, subsequent projects have struggled to maintain momentum. However, Netflix bosses remain optimistic, teasing a fresh slate of content in development with the Sussexes.
Among the planned releases is a romance film inspired by Meghan’s favorite book, along with a culinary series that aligns with her well-documented passion for food and hospitality. These projects signal a shift from their earlier focus on personal narratives and social issues.
Netflix Denies Deal is in Jeopardy
Recent reports speculated that Netflix was reconsidering its investment in the couple following disappointing viewership numbers and critical reception. However, a spokesperson for the platform clarified that their partnership with Meghan and Harry remains intact.

“We are excited about the creative collaboration and look forward to upcoming projects,” a Netflix executive stated.
The Sussexes signed their multi-million-pound deal with Netflix in 2020 after stepping back from royal duties, aiming to produce documentaries, scripted series, and children’s programming. While their animated series Pearl was scrapped in development, Netflix appears committed to finding the right content formula for the couple.
Mixed Success So Far
While Harry & Meghan generated massive global interest, their other projects, such as Live to Lead, failed to make a significant impact. Viewership data suggests a steep decline in audience engagement, raising concerns about the long-term viability of their partnership.
Despite this, Netflix’s latest statement suggests it is willing to stand by the couple as they explore new creative ventures. Whether these upcoming projects will resonate with audiences remains to be seen.
