Tough news for the Colorado Avalanche: forward Logan O’Connor underwent hip surgery on Friday and is expected to be sidelined for 5 to 6 months — potentially keeping him out until December.
The 28-year-old winger played in 80 games during the 2024–25 season, recording 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists). He also earned recognition for his two-way game, finishing 29th in Frank J. Selke Trophy voting, which honors the NHL’s best defensive forward.
O’Connor has been a reliable depth contributor throughout his seven-season NHL career — all spent with the Avalanche — tallying 103 points (45 goals, 58 assists) in 343 games.
His absence will leave a noticeable gap in Colorado’s bottom six, especially on the penalty kill and in energy-line situations.
