Raiders Insider Shares What Many Believe is the Biggest Concern with Shedeur Sanders

While this year’s quarterback class isn’t considered exceptional, teams like the Raiders, who may be in a position to draft a top QB, will likely face pressure to select one of the top prospects in the first round.

Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are seen as the two leading quarterbacks in the 2025 draft. However, ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez made a comment recently that could have teams rethinking their approach to Sanders. He pointed out that drafting Shedeur doesn’t just mean getting a talented quarterback; it also comes with the reality of adding his father, Deion Sanders, to the mix in some capacity.

On Raider Nation Radio’s JT the Brick Show, Gutierrez remarked, “When you look at everything, it points to Shedeur Sanders. He has that connection with Tom Brady, having worked with him before. But when you draft Shedeur, you’re not just getting a quarterback—you’re also bringing in Deion. It’s something every team needs to consider.”

For some teams, the presence of Deion Sanders might not be a big deal. We know the elder Sanders has a relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and it’s no secret that Tom Brady has ties to both Deion and Shedeur.

There’s also the factor that Deion Sanders has expressed openness to the idea of coaching his son at the NFL level, which adds another layer to the conversation. Since ESPN’s Adam Schefter brought up the possibility earlier this week, it’s become a major talking point.

While it’s unlikely that the Raiders would be interested in hiring Deion as their head coach, the question remains: could another team willing to bring him on as coach swoop in and take Shedeur away from the Raiders?

It’s just another angle to consider as we look ahead to the draft… though, wait—it’s not even Thanksgiving yet!
