Josh Anderson’s situation with the Canadiens is really interesting to follow. Frank Seravalli just mentioned that several NHL teams are willing to make an offer for him before the trade deadline on March 7.
So there is still interest in Josh Anderson on the trade market, but do we really want to trade him? That’s the question.

It’s quite a turnaround, because Anderson is not a rental player, and he didn’t seem to have much value a few months ago. He still has two years left on his contract at $5.5 million per year.

His actual stats this season aren’t that impressive (6 goals and 15 points in 40 games), but he remains a guy who skates fast and could help a team bring some physicality.

He’s not really having a bad season, considering his role.

In addition, he’s now excelling on the penalty kill and he’s a player who can really help in the playoffs, for the right team.

If the Canadiens get there, it would make sense to keep him.

But on the other hand, trading Anderson could allow the Habs to free up cap space and get a young player or draft picks.

That’s where Kent Hughes will have to make a big decision. Does he choose to bet on the present and keep Anderson?

Or does he look further ahead and accept an interesting offer? Not easy to say.

Personally, I believe Anderson is a key player in the locker room.

He doesn’t complain about his role and he always gives 100%, or nearly, every night. If a team is willing to pay a high price, I think it might be worth letting him go.
