Earlier today, the Florida Panthers shocked the NHL by completing a trade for Bruins captain Brad Marchand. Now, the details of the trade and the return have been revealed.

Initially, the names of some young players, such as Matthew “Mackie” Samoskevich and Gracyn Sawchyn, were circulating in rumors as being involved in this major trade between the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers.

However, in the end, it turns out that it is just a conditional draft pick.

A conditional 2nd-round draft pick in exchange for Brad Marchand
This has been confirmed by multiple reliable sources.

“According to Buccigross, the Panthers are trading a 2nd-round pick in 2027 (or a 1st-round pick in 2028) for Brad Marchand.

Bill Zito.. Incredible!”

Jordan McPherson

“A 2nd-round pick in 2027 that becomes a 1st-round pick in 2028 if conditions are met.”

That is much cheaper than we expected.. Wow!

Brad Marchand, 36 years old, is a 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward who has accumulated 47 points in 61 games this season.

In recent seasons, he has produced at a pace of 67, 75, 94, 107, 102, 104, and 103 points per 82 games.

I was definitely expecting a bigger return for the Boston Bruins in exchange for Marchand, and above all, I did not expect to see them give up so intensely on the playoff race.

Clearly, they are throwing in the towel for this year and focusing on the coming seasons.

More details to follow.

And you, what is your opinion on this trade?
