Devin Shore Heads to Europe, Signs With HC Sparta Prague….

After more than a decade in North America, veteran forward Devin Shore is officially taking his game overseas. The 30-year-old (turning 31 in July) has signed a one-year contract with HC Sparta Prague of the Czech Extraliga, the team announced today.

Shore spent the 2024–25 season on a two-way deal with the Minnesota Wild, initially projected to be a top-six piece for their AHL affiliate, Iowa Wild. However, due to a season riddled with injuries to Minnesota’s forward group, Shore ended up spending the majority of the year in the NHL.

Despite getting consistent opportunities, Shore didn’t make a major impact offensively. In 55 games, he recorded just 1 goal and 4 assists (5 points), averaged 8:39 TOI, and posted a -8 rating. His advanced metrics — 40.9 CF% and 38.1 xGF% — ranked among the lowest on the Wild.

The Ontario native began his NHL journey after being selected 61st overall by the Dallas Stars in 2012. He showed early promise with back-to-back 30-point seasons in 2016–17 and 2017–18. But since then, he’s struggled to hold a consistent NHL role, playing for Anaheim, Columbus, Edmonton, Seattle, and most recently Minnesota.

In total, Shore finishes his NHL stint with 498 games played, 52 goals, and 144 points — a respectable career, though one that seemed to plateau in recent years.

Now, he’ll suit up for HC Sparta Prague, joining a lineup that features several former NHLers like Roman Horák, Michal Kempný, and Mark Pysyk.
