Could Don Sweeney be gearing up to make another big move for the Bruins’ future?

Rumors are heating up that Boston may be targeting Hobey Baker Award-winning forward Isaac Howard, after his fallout with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Drafted 31st overall, Howard had a stellar year at Michigan State, racking up 52 points (26G, 26A) in 37 games.

The Lightning failed to sign the promising prospect to an entry-level contract (ELC), reportedly due to cap constraints and a lack of alignment on the next steps. According to insider Elliotte Friedman, Howard and the Lightning “weren’t simpatico on where everything stood at this time.”

Now, with the situation grabbing headlines, Lightning GM Julien Brisebois may be forced to explore trade options—and Bruins GM Don Sweeney should absolutely be picking up the phone.

Adding Howard could give Boston’s prospect pipeline a major boost, especially with the team lacking offensive star power. He’s NHL-ready and could crack the Bruins’ lineup as early as next season.
