We were treated to several very interesting press conferences from the Montreal Canadiens as part of their end-of-season media availability.
It was the young Lane Hutson who kicked things off, and he gave us a few very noteworthy quotes.

But that’s not all.
“Lane Hutson believes the Canadiens’ top PP unit (with Ivan Demidov) could become one of the best PP units in hockey real soon.”

- Marco D’Amico
Of course, the part in parentheses is what really stands out here.
Lane Hutson seems to suggest Ivan Demidov will be a permanent fixture on the Canadiens’ top power play unit!
Knowing Lane Hutson a little, it’s clear this wasn’t intentional, but it’s still an intriguing detail.
If Demidov is now officially part of the Habs’ top power play unit, what happens to Patrik Laine?
It’s something to keep a close eye on, but if Laine is no longer in the Canadiens’ power play plans, then what is the plan for him?
We’re likely to get more answers in the coming weeks, possibly even as soon as Monday, during the press conference with Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes.. But one thing is certain: Laine’s future in Montreal is far from settled and will be a major talking point this offseason.

Management has a big decision to make.
