Cincinnati Bengals star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson has voiced his frustration with the team, citing a complete breakdown in communication regarding a potential contract extension.
Despite earlier reports suggesting the Bengals had been in contact with Hendrickson’s camp following the NFL Draft, the 30-year-old firmly denied any such discussions in a statement to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“No communication has taken place between my camp and the organization post-draft,” Hendrickson said. “The offers before the draft didn’t reflect the vision we were promised last offseason if I continued to perform at a high level. Coaches are aware of those talks. Instead of working together to find a solution and bring me back, the team has gone silent. I’ve been waiting to resolve this, but it’s hard when there’s no discussion and a clear lack of interest in finding common ground.”
Hendrickson is coming off a dominant season, leading the NFL with 17.5 sacks. Over the past two years, he’s racked up 35 total sacks, making a strong case for a long-term extension. He is set to earn $16 million in base salary this season — the final year of his current deal — but is seeking a raise and security beyond 2025.
In March, there was optimism that a new deal could eventually materialize, but two months later, nothing has changed — and Hendrickson is growing increasingly vocal.
