When Rashod Bateman was selected 27th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the expectations were clear—he was meant to become Lamar Jackson’s go-to wideout. But a rocky start, marked by injuries and inconsistency, saw Bateman log just 93 receptions, 1,167 yards, and four touchdowns across his first three seasons. Solid numbers for a single campaign—but underwhelming over three.
Things changed in 2024.
With the arrival of All-Pro running back Derrick Henry helping to open up the offense, Bateman found his rhythm. He posted career highs with 45 catches, 756 yards, and nine touchdowns—second only to tight end Mark Andrews (11) on the team. Those numbers marked a true breakout and helped reestablish Bateman as a key piece in Baltimore’s offense.
NFL.com’s Tom Blair recently named Bateman the Ravens’ most underappreciated player entering 2025, noting how the Ravens’ offensive spotlight rarely shines on wide receivers.
“Most NFL wide receivers are going to be kept off this list by their high Q Scores — except in Baltimore, where wideouts tend to play second, third and fourth fiddle to running backs, tight ends and, duh, Lamar Jackson,” Blair wrote. “Bateman’s elevation to productive WR2 in 2024… counts as a true breakout.”
Blair also pointed out that Bateman recorded 35 first-down receptions—marking the first time in Lamar Jackson’s career that three Baltimore pass-catchers (alongside Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews) each posted 30+ first downs. And while the addition of veteran DeAndre Hopkins might impact Bateman’s targets in 2025, it only underscores how quietly valuable Bateman has become.
Now it’s your turn—
Do you agree with the pick? Is Rashod Bateman truly the Ravens’ most underappreciated player, or is there someone else you’d nominate instead?
