The Parramatta Eels have officially opened the $70 million Parramatta Eels Centre of Excellence (COE) and Kellyville Memorial Park Community Centre — the largest rugby league training precinct in the world. This milestone represents a significant leap forward for both the Club and the Western Sydney community.
Jointly funded by the NSW and Australian Governments, The Hills Shire Council, and Parramatta Leagues Club, the state-of-the-art precinct boasts five full-sized rugby league fields. Notably, it is Australia’s first gender-equal elite rugby league facility, offering mirrored facilities for men and women across the NRL, NRLW, and Elite Pathways programs.
Next to the COE stands the new Community Centre, which includes an international-standard match venue featuring a 1,500-seat grandstand, multi-purpose function rooms, and community education spaces to help expand the Club’s community programs.
CEO Jim Sarantinos hailed the development:
“This is a transformative moment for the Eels and our community. The Centre of Excellence will provide our men’s, women’s, and pathways teams with world-class facilities while helping grow participation in rugby league throughout one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.
Most importantly, it becomes a true home for the entire Eels family — our players, past legends, fans, members, and the wider Western Sydney community. We are deeply grateful for the support of all our partners and government stakeholders who brought this vision to life.”
The Club’s major sponsor, James Hardie, is also investing in the Centre, supporting initiatives that will connect and uplift the local community.
John Arneil, President of James Hardie APAC, said:
“As a company rooted in Western Sydney, we’re proud to support this long-term investment in sport and community. Our focus is on building a better future not just through our products, but through lasting partnerships that benefit where we live, work, and play.”
Congratulations to the Eels on this historic achievement. The new Centre of Excellence is set to shape the future of rugby league and create a legacy for generations to come.
