Lachlan Galvin’s future is the subject of intense interest as both the Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels push hard to secure the teen star, with Canterbury re-entering the race due to two key factors.
Despite earlier reports suggesting the Bulldogs were out of contention, the club has made a renewed bid to sign the 19-year-old playmaker, with their offer reportedly less than the $750,000 per season originally floated. Meanwhile, the Eels have upped their own bid, according to Michael Chammas on Triple M, as both clubs met with Galvin on Wednesday following the Tigers’ decision to release him immediately.
A $165,000 transfer fee will be required to sign Galvin, and according to Code Sports, Canterbury’s interest was reignited largely because Galvin—once thought to be unavailable until 2027—can now join right away. That immediate availability, coupled with the Bulldogs’ strong form in 2025 and impressive off-field growth, makes them a strong contender.
Parramatta, on the other hand, are equally motivated, especially with Dylan Brown set to leave for Newcastle at the end of the season. They are eager to pair Galvin with Mitchell Moses in the halves.
League great Michael Ennis weighed in, calling Galvin’s decision to walk away from the reported $6 million, five-year offer from the Tigers a “huge insult” to the club.
“I thought it was such a blow to the Tigers when Galvin turned down a $1.2 million-per-season deal,” Ennis said. “He said he wanted to develop his game. To leave for $750,000 at another club? That’s a $2 million sacrifice.”
Ennis believes the Bulldogs are an ideal landing spot.
“My gut says he ends up at Canterbury. It would be a massive signing,” he added. “They’re leading the comp, doing great things on and off the field. Cameron Ciraldo has players playing their best footy—he’s the kind of coach Galvin can thrive under.”
