Star halfback Nathan Cleary has expressed heartfelt gratitude after being recalled to the Westpac NSW Blues squad ahead of State of Origin Game I. In an exclusive chat with NRL.com, Cleary shared his appreciation for the opportunity to don the sky-blue jersey once again, calling it a “special moment” in his career.
The Penrith Panthers playmaker, who missed the previous Origin series due to injury, is now back in peak form and eager to lead from the front as New South Wales looks to reclaim the Origin shield from Queensland.
“I’m very grateful for the call-up,” Cleary said. “Every chance to represent New South Wales is a privilege. I’m ready to give it everything for the team and the fans.”
Cleary joins a Blues side brimming with both experience and new talent, as head coach Michael Maguire sets his sights on a dominant performance in the 2025 series opener.
Training is in full swing at the Blues’ high-performance camp, with Cleary already taking charge in tactical drills and bringing his signature leadership to the squad.
State of Origin Game I will be held at Accor Stadium, with the Blues determined to set the tone early in the three-match series.
