The Toronto Blue Jays find themselves in a fascinating spot.
Sitting at 35-30, they currently hold the third American League Wild Card position and are just 4.5 games behind the Yankees in the AL East.
Despite their playoff hopes, trade rumors continue to swirl — and this time, it centers around one of their stars: Bo Bichette.
While the team successfully extended Vladimir Guerrero Jr., they have yet to lock in Bichette, who’s set to become a free agent after the 2025 season.
According to Manny Randhawa of MLB.com, Bichette is Toronto’s top trade chip ahead of the deadline:
“Bichette, in the final year of his contract, is coming off a difficult, injury-marred 2024 campaign. He has bounced back, hitting .270/.316/.427 with eight homers this season… A former All-Star who led the AL in hits in 2021 and 2022 could bring a nice haul as Toronto pursues a postseason return.”
Bichette’s solid performance in 2025 has helped the Jays rebound after a rocky start.
Even though Toronto is in contention, the idea of trading Bichette isn’t far-fetched. With no extension talks in sight, it might be wise to explore deals that bring back Major League-ready prospects — potentially improving both the present and future.
The team could still stay competitive by adding complementary pieces alongside any return in a Bichette deal.
So what should the Blue Jays do?
