Contract Extension With Bradford Bulls

Jayden Okunbor, the former Canterbury Bulldogs utility, has officially re-signed with the Bradford Bulls, extending his stay in the UK with a new one-year contract that will keep him at the club through the end of the 2026 season.

The 27-year-old winger and back-rower last featured in the NRL in 2023, playing 17 matches for the Bulldogs before moving overseas. Since joining Bradford midway through last year, Okunbor has become one of the Bulls’ standout performers, scoring 17 tries in 32 appearances and quickly becoming a fan favourite.

🗣 “I am very excited. I knew for a while I wanted to stay another year, and once I heard the club wanted to keep me, that’s all I needed,” said Okunbor.
“From the fans to the volunteers, players, and coaches — everyone has made me feel welcome since day one, and I feel like I’m playing some of my best footy again.”

Okunbor, who grew up in Bankstown, made his debut for the Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 3 of 2019 against the Wests Tigers. A Milpera Colts junior, he went on to make 45 NRL appearances before making the move to the UK.

Now thriving in West Yorkshire, he finds strong connections between his current and former clubs:

“I grew up dreaming of playing for the Bulldogs, and I see a lot of similarities with the Bulls. The fans here are die-hard and incredibly passionate — just like I was as a young fan.”

Okunbor also praised the club’s pre-season conditioning and culture:

“Having a full pre-season here helped a lot. Nick Botten ran a great programme, and we came through it in good shape. I’m feeling really good at the moment.”

“We would’ve loved to play at Wembley, but now we’re refreshed and focused on the rest of the season. Signing this extension means another year on this journey — and we won’t stop until we reach our goals.”
