Boston Bruins Defenseman Hampus Lindholm Speaks To The Media For The First Time Since Being Injured

Boston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm, sidelined since November 12 due to a lower-body injury, has recently resumed skating as part of his rehabilitation process. Interim head coach Joe Sacco provided an encouraging update, stating, “Hampus is making good progress. He’s skating with [skating and skills coach] John McLean right now. The next step will be for him to join us, maybe for portions of our practice.”

Lindholm’s injury occurred during a game against the St. Louis Blues, where he blocked a shot late in the first period and did not return. Since then, he has missed 29 consecutive games. On January 14, the Bruins placed Lindholm on long-term injured reserve (LTIR), a move primarily aimed at salary cap management and not indicative of a setback in his recovery.

While Lindholm’s return to game action remains uncertain, his progress in skating drills is a positive sign. The Bruins are optimistic about his eventual reintegration into the lineup, which would bolster their defensive corps. In the meantime, the team has recalled defenseman Michael Callahan from Providence to provide depth, especially with fellow defenseman Charlie McAvoy also placed on injured reserve due to a nagging injury.

Lindholm’s return would be a significant boost for the Bruins, who have been managing multiple injuries on their blue line. Fans and teammates alike are eager to see him back in action, contributing to the team’s defensive stability and overall performance.
