The ATP 500 Dallas Open has its finalists. Denis Shapovalov pulled off a surprise victory over world No. 9 Tommy Paul in straight sets, while Casper Ruud secured his spot in the final after edging out Jaume Munar in a tense three-set battle decided by a tie-break.
Ruud Overcomes Munar in a Hard-Fought Clash
World No. 5 Casper Ruud started strong, securing two early breaks to take control. However, Munar raised his level in the latter half of the second set, breaking Ruud at 4-5 and earning a chance to serve for the set. Ruud responded immediately, breaking back and forcing a tie-break, where his experience and composure proved decisive.
Both players delivered solid serving performances, with Munar landing 67% of his first serves compared to Ruud’s 72%. The Norwegian fired four aces and committed two double faults, while Munar recorded six aces with just one double fault.
