With the 2025 NFL Draft now complete, undrafted free agent (UDFA) signings are already underway — and one notable quarterback deal has emerged early.
Max Brosmer, who finished his college career at Minnesota, will remain in-state this offseason. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are set to sign Brosmer as an undrafted free agent, with a deal that includes $250,000 guaranteed.
Brosmer spent four years at New Hampshire, serving as the full-time starter, and earned first-team All-American honors in 2023. He later transferred to Minnesota for his final college season, setting a career-high 66.5% completion rate, though he totaled just 18 touchdowns against six interceptions. Given his age (24) and modest production, it was no surprise that Brosmer went undrafted.
Despite that, Brosmer didn’t have to wait long for an NFL opportunity. With his Vikings deal secured, he will now focus on competing for the team’s third-string quarterback spot. Minnesota is poised to hand the starting job to J.J. McCarthy, the 2024 first-round pick who missed his rookie season due to injury.
Veterans Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones both departed in free agency, aware that McCarthy was positioned as the future QB1. Entering the draft, Minnesota’s quarterback depth remained a concern — but the team made a move earlier today, acquiring Sam Howell via trade. Howell, formerly with Washington and Seattle, will serve as McCarthy’s primary backup.
Brosmer will look to earn a spot as the Vikings’ third quarterback. If he performs well, he could stick on the 53-man roster after final cutdowns; otherwise, a place on the practice squad could be his next step.
