Bankstown Bulldogs star Stephen Crichton and his wife Leone have made headlines across the globe with a jaw-dropping act of generosity—pledging to donate 100% of his 2024–2025 season earnings, including bonuses and sponsorship deals, to charity and homeless relief efforts.
The couple announced their decision in a heartfelt joint statement on Friday morning, expressing a deep commitment to using their platform to create lasting change.
“We’ve been blessed far beyond what we ever imagined,” Crichton said. “This season, we want to turn that blessing into impact—feeding families, housing the homeless, and supporting those forgotten by society.”
Crichton, 24, who signed with the Bulldogs in 2024 after a stellar run with the Penrith Panthers, is considered one of the NRL’s most electrifying stars. His current deal, estimated to be worth over $750,000 per year excluding endorsements, puts this donation among the most substantial charitable gestures by any athlete in recent history.
Leone Crichton, who has long worked in community development, said this move was the result of months of prayer, planning, and consultation with family and mentors. “We’ve seen firsthand the struggle on Sydney’s streets. We knew we had to do more,” she shared.
The Crichtons are reportedly partnering with a mix of local shelters, youth programs, and faith-based initiatives across New South Wales. Some funds will also be directed internationally to support families displaced by war and poverty.
Bulldogs head coach Cameron Ciraldo praised the couple’s bold decision, calling it “a true example of leadership beyond the field.”
Social media has since erupted in admiration, with fans, teammates, and celebrities alike praising the Crichtons for their humility and heart.
