Toby Sexton is reportedly on the verge of quitting the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, with rival clubs circling for his signature.

Sources close to the Bulldogs have revealed that the 23-year-old halfback is considering an early exit from Belmore, despite having a contract until the end of 2025. The decision comes amid increasing competition for the No.7 jersey and reported interest from at least three rival NRL clubs, including the Gold Coast Titans and St George Illawarra Dragons.

Sexton, who joined the Bulldogs in 2023 after a stint with the Titans, has shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to cement his place as the long-term solution in the halves. With Canterbury aggressively pursuing marquee signings for 2025, including high-profile targets like Jarome Luai and Mitchell Moses, Sexton’s future has been thrown into doubt.

The Gold Coast Titans, where Sexton began his NRL career, are believed to be leading the race to secure his services. Titans coach Des Hasler is reportedly keen on reuniting with the young playmaker to bolster their spine. Meanwhile, the Dragons are also monitoring the situation, with Shane Flanagan looking for an experienced half to partner Ben Hunt.

If Sexton departs, the Bulldogs may fast-track the development of young gun Karl Oloapu or enter the market for another halfback. Canterbury’s football boss Phil Gould has remained tight-lipped but acknowledged that roster changes are inevitable as the club pushes for a premiership window.

Bulldogs supporters have taken to social media, with many divided over Sexton’s potential exit. Some believe he hasn’t been given enough time to shine, while others argue the club needs a more dominant game manager to compete with top-tier teams.

An official announcement could come as early as next week, with Sexton’s management expected to meet with Bulldogs officials to discuss his future. If he departs, it would mark another major roster shake-up for Canterbury as they rebuild under coach Cameron Ciraldo.
